My name is Monica and this is what I looked like on this particular day that this photo was taken:

It tends to vary, but you get the idea.

I started this blog as a semi-narcissistic means to indulge my passion for writing.  Here you can read my ramblings on food, photography, movies, books, travel, and life in general.

The name SQUOOSHED was inspired by this photo of me and my bridesmaids hanging on my wall:

The word “squooshed” came to mind, and let’s be honest, I just liked the word a lot.

But then I started thinking about how it applies to life and how we’re all scrambling to try and fit our numerous and ever-changing passions and ambitions into the short time we have.  So this is sort of an account of that journey – my interests, experiences, and thoughts all squooshed into one domain.

Like I said, I just liked the word a lot.

Here are some fun facts about me:

I have a husband.  His name is Patrick, he speaks fluent Mandarin, and he loves Dr. Pepper.  We were married at the University of Notre Dame, where we met senior year.

The first book I attempted to write was in the 6th grade.  It was called “Nowhere to Run.”  It probably should have been called “Going Nowhere.”

I’m consistently inconsistent.  Especially when bowling.

I like cute things like animals or anything miniature.

I was that weird kid who picked all the marshmallows out of my Lucky Charms so I could eat just the cereal.

There is another person in the world who looks a lot like me.  You could say she’s my twin, but I prefer the word “doppleganger.”  Usually I just refer to her by her given name, Mikala.
